According to police, 24-year-old Nicholas Hoard opened his apartment door that night to find two masked and armed men. The men allegedly forced themselves inside and one held Hoard in a headlock at gunpoint while the other, later identified as 23-year-old Dominique Scott, rummaged through the apartment.
Police say that Hoard was eventually able to disarm the person holding him in a headlock. When Scott returned to the room Hoard was in, the two began fighting. Hoard ultimately shot Scott one time. The second unidentified suspect fled the scene, which is when Hoard called 911.
STABBING ON MORTON STREET
The second death happened at a home on Morton Street. Police say Nikki Clark called officers just before 6 p.m. and said that she had come home from work to find her fiancee dead in the apartment.
