A gymnastics instructor who previously worked in Massachusetts was arrested Thursday in Florida on nine counts of possessing child pornography, according to the Broward County Sherriff’s Office.
Detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Hassan Jawad, 37, at his Deerfield Beach, Florida, home after a monthlong investigation into a computer sharing or advertising child pornography, according to a news release. Detectives allegedly found videos of boys – most appearing to be between 7 and 13 years old -- “engaged in sexual acts with other boys or men,” the news release said.
Jawad is facing nine counts of possessing and compiling child pornography.
The sheriff’s office said Jawad had been working for more than a year at a Boca Raton gymnastics center and had previously been employed at New England Academy of Gymnastics in Marlborough from 2015 to 2017.
Investigators believe there could be other victims and are asking anyone who has information about Jawad to contact Broward County Sherriff's Office ICAC Detective Jennifer Montgomery at 954-888-5239. Anonymous tips can be sent through Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online.
