The Weston Fire chief said that a woman in her 80s made it out to the front porch, where she fell as the three-alarm blaze raged around her.
Her screams caught the attention of a man on his motorcycle who was on his way to work. Fire investigators say the man ran to pull the woman to safety.
The woman was taken to the hospital with second- and third-degree burns.
According to fire officials, the victim's son stores a lot of his landscaping equipment in the front yard and inside the house. When firefighters arrived, they encountered a lot of debris from the equipment and the woman's belongings.
"She had a lot of stuff. She's my mother's age - she's from the depression era," said a former neighbor, Dave Conna. "They didn't throw things out."
The woman's neighbor, George Liao, said it was just before 7 a.m, when he saw the flames next door. "The older woman screamed very loudly," he said, telling Boston 25 News that the woman lives alone.
According to investigators, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined and they say the woman's cat might still be missing.
