Fire officials: Blackstone fire may have been caused by smoking

BLACKSTONE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A two-alarm fire which occurred on Rayner Street in Blackstone Wednesday has been deemed accidental and may have been due to smoking, fire officials say.

The fire at 15 Rayner Street is still under investigation; however, fire officials believe the fire started on the second floor porch and spread throughout the three-story residence.

Firefighters responded to the residence at about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy flames coming from the front of the structure.

All of the residents were able to get out of the building, but a cat did die in the fire.
