Fenway adds 222 new seats, virtual reality stations & netting

BOSTON — Fenway unveiling major improvements Friday, including more seats, protective netting and virtual reality stations during its annual tour before opening day.

The 222 new seat expansion was the most extensive project at Fenway completed during the off-season. The new seats are in the State Street Pavilion extension in Reserved Section 15. Tickets are available as part of a 20-game season ticket plan.

Recommendations from Major League Baseball led to the protective netting extension for all seats located between the dugouts that are within 70 feet of home plate. The dugout net stands at 9-feet-8-inches; the pre-existing net behind home plate has also been replaced.
