Feds order Fung Wah bus company to cease operations

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Fung Wah Bus Transportation Inc. has been ordered to cease all operations by the U.S. Dept. of Transportation.

In a press release sent out Thursday afternoon, the Dept. of Transportation said the company was found to be an "imminent hazard to public safety and ordered to cease all passenger operations."

The company had previously been ordered out of service and its 28 buses were pulled off the road after investigators found various problems with the fleet.

It then had its operating license revoked after investigators said the company stopped cooperating with federal safety inspectors and blocked access to safety records.

On Thursday, the Dept. of Transportation said the company failed to inspect, repair and maintain its vehicles. It also said Fung Wah falsified inspection records and failed to ensure drivers were qualified, complied with hours-of-service regulations and failed to meet drug and alcohol testing requirements.
