Epping woman asks for help finding stolen, irreplaceable present

EPPING, NH — An Epping woman is asking FOX25 viewers for help Thursday night to find an irreplaceable Christmas present that was stolen from her mailbox.

When Jude David noticed her Christmas presents hadn't arrived, she checked her at the post office. It was there where she learned her packages were delivered and stolen from her mailbox.

“Everyone calls him blue eyes because he had the most beautiful blue eyes,” Jude said.

She wanted to honor her father who died from cancer last August, so she snuck into her mother’s closet.

“He was a very down to Earth man and always wore flannel shirts so I actually snuck one out of her closet. After he had passed she'd kinda locked everything away,” Jude said.

She sent the shirt to Texas where a seamstress created a memorial pillow for her mother. But it never made it under the tree. It was stolen among other packages delivered to Jude’s home on Dec. 4.

“They probably saw packages being delivered to by mailbox and they weren't selective. They stole all of our mail and all of the packages,” she said.

After checking with the post office, she found the evidence of the theft.

“About 200 yards down empty envelops that had my dad's memorial pillow in it along with many other Christmas presents,” she said.

Her family is now suffering another loss.

“That memorial shirt. My dad's shirt, doesn't mean anything to anyone. It means everything to our family,” she said.

Jude tells me local police are investigating and in the meantime her community has rallied around her family, helping her to search for the pillow.

One woman in nearby Hampton offered to make another pillow in time for Christmas.

“It turned into a good story that there's so many kind people out there that do care and they are in the spirit of giving and the good outweighs the bad,” she said.

There were other unique items stolen and police are hoping to track those to the pillow.
