PLYMOUTH, Mass. — A 20-year-old man with an arsenal of weapons is accused of impersonating a police office in Duxbury, according to police.
Detectives say Christopher Barlow was arrested on a warrant after he was found with “fraudulent identification that made it appear that he was a law enforcement officer.” Some of them were obviously fake, said police, and one was an ID for Homeland Security.
Police began investigating after receiving a call from the town in Connecticut where Barlow works during the school year as a volunteer firefighter say there were concerns about guns and chemicals he had.
Barlow is currently an enrolled student at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut, the university confirmed. He was home for the summer and police said he was working for Brewster Ambulance.
Officers began asking his family members about the guns, and one of them turned a firearm into police. Then, Barlow showed up at the police department posing as a Homeland Security officer, asking for the gun back, said police.
Police say they later found a number of illegal weapons and the parts to make firearms during a search of his car and home.
Barlow has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm, impersonating a police officer and possession or control of an incendiary device or material.
He was arrested in Plymouth and has been held on $250,000 bail.
