BOSTON — A 28-year-old Medford man has been arrested after he crashed into two state police cruisers while they were conducting a traffic stop.
Just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Troopers had pulled over a car on Storrow Drive eastbound at the Charles Street exit for motor vehicle violations. Troopers had the driver, a 24-year-old Lynn man, get out of his vehicle and that’s when an SUV came from behind and crashed into one of the cruisers. The impact pushed the cruiser into the other cruiser parked in front of it, and then into the Lynn man who was standing outside of his vehicle.
The Lynn man suffered non-life threatening injures and was taken to the hospital.
The driver of the SUV, 28-year-old Eduardo DaSilva of Medford was arrested and charged with DUI, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and failure to change lanes for an emergency vehicle.
DaSilva is being held on $10,040 bail.
Neither Trooper was injured. One of the cruisers was heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene. DaSilva’s SUV was also heavily damaged and had to be towed.
