Driver taken to hospital after crash at Norton fire station

NORTON, Mass. — A driver was taken to the hospital after crashing into the railing of a fire station in Norton, Norton Police Chief Brian Clark told Boston 25 News.

Emergency crews were called around 9:15 p.m. Saturday to the Chartley Fire Station on South Worcester Street for a report of a car into the building.

A second caller reported the driver may have suffered a medical issue, according to Clark.

The station was closed on November 5 due to staffing issues, so no one was inside the building at the time of the crash.

When first responders arrived, Clark said they realized the car only damaged the railing of the handicap ramp. The building didn't suffer any other damage.

The driver was taken by ambulance to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro to be treated for injuries described as non-life threatening.
