Police searching for female suspect in deadly Cape Cod hit-and-run

BARNSTABLE, Mass. — Police on Cape Cod are looking for a driver who hit a person in Centerville and fled the scene.

The crash happened near the Bell Tower Mall just before 8 p.m., police told Boston 25 News.

The 62-year-old male victim was brought to the Cape Cod Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He hasn't been identified, but police said he was a local resident.

Police said they are looking for a Toyota sedan light in color, with front-end damage (front-end, grill, hood, windshield, and roof.)

The suspect has been described as a white female in her late 20's or early 30's with black hair. She was wearing blue jeans and a light colored coat and smokes cigarettes.

Police said she got out of the vehicle and checked on the victim before getting back into her car and driving away.

Neighbors say the shopping plaza is a popular spot, but the road can be dangerous for pedestrians.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Barnstable Police.
