(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - The mother of Caleigh Harrison was emotionally paralyzed in the days following her daughter's disappearance; however, she is more determined than ever to find out what happened the day her 2-year-old disappeared from a beach in Rockport.
Allison Hammond did not cry during her interview with FOX 25. She was very much pulled together despite the recent disappearance of Caleigh.
Hammond recalls the day she took her girls to the beach. She specifically chose Long Beach because she thought it was safer than the other local beaches with the boardwalk and the rocks acting as natural barrier from the water.
It was a sunny April day, and Hammond was playing catch with her girls when the ball ended up in a patch of grass. She went to retrieve the ball leaving her girls for mere minutes, but when she returned Caleigh was gone.
The only witness was Hammond's other daughter, 4-year-old Elizabeth.
Elizabeth told authorities that her sister was taken by someone smoking a cigarette; however, the young girl has been reluctant to talk to her own mother and father.
In addition to the stress of losing a daughter, Hammond has also heard rumors that she or Caleigh's father could have played a role in her disappearance.
Hammond's intuition tells her that she needs to follow her instincts and keep searching for Caleigh whom she believes was abducted.
