Bus driver pinned to tree in Brockton crash, fire chief says

BROCKTON, Mass. — A Brockton bus driver was stuck between the bus and a tree after crashing Thursday morning, according to fire officials.

The Brockton Fire Department tweeted that one person was trapped in the crash, but didn't release further details until a news conference later in the morning.

Sky 25 was over the scene Thursday morning as emergency crews crowded around the front of the crashed bus.

The female bus driver's left foot was caught between the tree and the bus, according to Brockton Fire Deputy Chief Gerry Kenney said.

"She was in a lot of pain ... she was in and out," he added. "No life-threatening injuries though."

She was airlifted to a hospital.

A few passengers on the bus were injured, but Deputy Chief Kenney said their injuries were minor.

Fire officials said they didn't know how the crash happened, but confirmed the bus apparently left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
