Boston police release 2 exclusive videos of shootings to FOX 25

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police shared exclusive video of two shootings in Roxbury with FOX 25's Bob Ward.

The first surveillance video shows a suspect seconds after opening fire, with school buses nearby. Images of another shooting outside of a busy department store were also released, only to FOX. Both of these shootings took place in broad daylight, in crowded areas, and in both cases the shooters were caught on surveillance. Boston police are asking for the public's help in catching the suspects.

The first video shows a scene near Madison Park High School on Williams Street in Roxbury that occurred in early September. Yellow buses can be seen on the road in the footage, as local schools had just been dismissed for the day. Two men are seen jumping out of a red Chevy Captiva at about 2:45 p.m. in the afternoon. They proceeded to walk up to a 55-year-old man on a sidewalk, and open fire.

As many as eight shots were fired, police say, and the video shows the suspects running away. They hop a fence and bolt through an alley, and police say he knew where he was going.

"They weren't running blindly as the video depicts," Det. James Coyne said.

The shooter was wearing a blue and white shirt as well as shorts that day. He keeps his hands on his waist, concealing the gun.

The second surveillance video shows a shooting that happened on Aug. 15 at the Washington Park Mall in Roxbury at about 7:20 p.m. You can see a man emerging from the parking lot, telling a group that the target is inside. The groups walks through the mall, and into a Marshalls, stalking their victim. They wait outside for the victim, until a security guard tells them to leave. Within minutes, the victim, shot in his shoulder, runs back into the store.

"No one wants to give information. They don't want to be branded as a snitch. However, when situations like this occur, and the target they have in mind is missed, then you have another member of the public injured, we don't want to wait that long. We want that information as soon as possible. Get these people off the street," Det. Juan Diaz said.
