Bicyclist dies in Sudbury after collision with pickup truck during triathlon

SUDBURY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com / AP) - A bicyclist has died after being struck by a pickup truck in Sudbury, west of Boston.

Police said the man was hit Sunday morning at the intersection of Hudson Road, and Maynard Street. The driver of the truck remained at the scene.

The Sudbury Spring Sprint Triathlon was being held Sunday morning in the town west of Boston. According to Sudbury officials, the victim, a man in his 50s, was a participant in the event.

The triathlon was canceled after the incident.

Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown tweeted that he participated in the triathlon, and that his thoughts were with the victim of the crash.

The race coordinator told FOX25 the man may be from Ecuador, and that it appears the man may have tried to brake his bike after taking a corner and collided with the truck. The investigation remains ongoing, and Hudson Road was closed for the investigation of the crash.
