3 rescued from overturned boat in Nahant Bay

NAHANT, Mass. — Crews from Station Boston rescued three people aboard an overturned boat in Nahant Bay on Friday morning.

The police reported that the small boat overturned in the Swallow Cave/East Point area around 3 a.m. Friday. The harbormaster told Boston 25 News they believe the boat took on water, causing it to flip.

The men climbed to the top of the boat and were able to flag down a nearby lobster fisherman who called police, fire and the harbormaster.

The United States Coast Guard First District tweeted that the passengers were rescued from the hull of the boat. There were no injuries and no one needed medical treatment.

Officials say there was one life jacket on board and none of the men were wearing it at the time.
