CHELSEA, Mass. — Three people were taken to hospitals after a car slammed into a building in Chelsea, according to the police department.
Video from the incident shows a car fly by an open garage door and slam into a steel beam, an impact so hard the car bounces back and hits a Jeep, causing it to bounce.
"I felt the building moving a little bit," said Carlos Bonilla, who was working in his auto shop at the time of the crash. "The building moved a little bit, but the noise was big, [very] big."
Chief Bryan Kyes told Boston 25 News Wednesday afternoon a 44-year-old woman was driving the car and suffered minor injuries. Kyes said an 8-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl were also in the car.
"There's no skid marks, the impact was to a steel beam and the car is pretty broken up," said Chelsea Deputy Fire Chief Wayne Ulwick.
The 12-year-old girl was trapped in the car after the crash and suffered serious injuries to her leg and possible internal injuries.
She had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Chelsea Fire Department.
"I see the daughter inside and the little kid in the back," said Fire Chief Ulwick. "They were conscious and alert but pretty shaken up."
All of the victims were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.
There is no word yet on their conditions.
