20-year-old arrested and charged in fatal Attleboro stabbing

ATTLEBORO, Mass. — A 20-year-old woman from Weymouth was arrested Sunday for the fatal stabbing of Kimberly Duphily on Friday, according to a release by the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

Kayla Cantu was taken into custody by Attleboro and Rhode Island State Police in Providence on Sunday.

Cantu is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, the DA’s office said, and will be arraigned in Attleboro District Court on Monday.

On Friday shortly before 4 p.m., Attleboro Police received numerous 911 calls reporting a stabbing at 6 Leroy Street. Duphily, 28, of Attleboro, was pronounced dead at Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

A woman in her 20s also suffered minor injuries, the DA’s office said, and remained hospitalized Friday night.
