2 people stabbed after alleged family dispute, suspect arrested

LEOMINSTER, Mass. — Two people were stabbed inside their home and suffered serious injuries Sunday night, according to Leominster Police. Officials have a suspect in custody and will charge him with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and expect additional charges.

Police said they think the stabbing happened during a family dispute, and while the victims haven’t been identified, police said they all knew each other.

Police Chief Michael Goldman said Sunday night that the man who was stabbed was in stable condition, but he didn’t know how the woman was after having surgery earlier with very serious injuries. The suspect was also taken to a local hospital with injuries.

“I come outside and I saw a girl standing next to the telephone pole, and she was covered in blood,” said neighbor Anthony Roberto.

Neighbors described the horrific scene, saying they heard a loud shriek and saw a young girl run out of the house at 128 First Street. They said that the young girl was visiting her grandmother, who lived at the home with her boyfriend, and police said she wasn’t hurt.

“Her hands were full of blood and she had the phone and she was trying to call 911," said another neighbor, Rad Roman. "So I told her that the police were going to come and help her.”

“Me and my neighbor were trying to calm her down,” Roberto said. “She was terrified; the poor thing was terrified.”
