SHIRLEY, Mass. — Delays of about two hours are expected on the Fitchburg Commuter Rail line due to a train with an engine problem stopped near Shirley.
And, there are delays on another outbound train, Fitchburg Line Train 493, the MBTA tweeted around 5 p.m.
"Fitchburg Line Train 493, (3:59 pm outbound) is stopped at Lincoln due to a mechanical issue with the engine and is currently 15-25 minutes behind schedule," the tweet read.
Shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday, the MBTA tweeted that Fitchburg Train 418 was stopped near Shirley "due to a main engine mechanical issue."
UPDATE: Fitchburg Train 418 (1:30 pm inbound) assisted by Train 420 (2:50 pm inbound) has departed Shirley and is now operating about 2 hours behind schedule between Shirley and North Station due to an earlier main engine issue.

"Train 420 (2:50 pm inbound) will assist it to Boston," the MBTA said.
Wednesday's incident occurred after a Red Line train derailed in Boston last month.
