11 elementary school students hospitalized after bus crash in Milford

MILFORD, Mass. — An accident involving a Milford school bus sent nearly a dozen children to the hospital on Monday. Thankfully everyone involved in the accident is expected to recover.

A Milford Fire lieutenant said that the children on the bus were scared, but most of the injuries were bumps and bruises.

The accident happening just before 3 p.m. on Dilla Street. The superintendent of Milford Schools telling Boston 25 News that a car crossed the median and hit the school bus.

Eleven students were taken to the hospital. Six ambulances were needed, including some from neighboring towns. Firefighters say that there were about 50 students from the Woodland Elementary School on the bus at the time.

One thing that they say helped out greatly to calm everyone was that a teacher from the school saw the crash and ran out and onto the bus to comfort the children.

All of the ones that were injured are between 8 and 10 years old.

The driver of that car had minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital. It’s unclear if that driver will be cited.
