PLYMOUTH, Mass. — One person was killed Monday when their car crashed off Route 3 in Plymouth and landed in a river.
Police said emergency crews were called to Route 3 south near the Jordan Road overpass to investigate reports of a car that had crashed into the Eel River just before 1 p.m.
When crews arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle sustained heavy damage and was partially submerged in the river.
The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Route 3 would be partially closed for the investigation until further notice and drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
No other information was released.
