BACK-TO-BACK 100 DEGREE DAYS
We saw something happen Friday that has only occurred 4 times in Boston’s recorded history, we hit 100 degrees for the 2nd consecutive day! The last time this happened was way back in August of 1944! Though we hit 100, it was still a bit short of the daily record of 102 set back in 1911.
THE 4TH OF JULY
Another hot and humid day is on the way, but not expecting triple digit heat like the last couple days. Highs will be mostly in the low to mid 90s with Heat Index values in the upper 90s to low 100s. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids and try to find some shade if heading to any barbecues! Even though temps won’t be as hot, heat exhaustion is still a factor.
As far as thunderstorms go, we’ll see isolated storms developing in the afternoon, some may be accompanied by heavy rain, gusty winds, and small hail...that threat lasts through the evening. Just keep an eye to the sky if hosting any outdoor barbecues or venturing outside. After that, it’s looking mostly dry for the fireworks displays!
RELIEF ON THE WAY
By Sunday, the extreme heat finally breaks. Sunshine returns with much lower humidity and afternoon highs in the 80s, making it a fantastic day to get outside and enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend. Rain works back into the picture for Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning with the potential for a half-inch for many.
