GREAT LOOKING END TO THE WEEK
Brace for a colder start Friday morning. It will be freezing at sunrise with many towns back in the 20s. The afternoon will be seasonably cool in the middle 40s with more sun. Winds will lighten in most of Massachusetts, but the Cape will continue to see gusts to 30 mph.
First of all, it won’t rain everywhere this weekend. If your plans are bringing you away from the coast or to the north, you will get some sun Saturday. With a persistent northeast wind, ocean moisture will flow into the coastline brining gray skies and some coastal light rain or drizzle. The best chance for occasional misty, soggy weather will be in southeastern Massachusetts, particularly on the south shore, Cape Cod, and the islands. Since overnight temperatures will be colder, some snow may mix in (snizzle). Dry weather will continue in central and northern MA through Sunday afternoon.
A storm approaching from the west late Sunday will increase the chance for some light snow. Early estimates range from a coating to 2″ in Massachusetts, with the highest totals in western parts of the state. Although that would be low impact, it could be a headache for the Monday morning commute. Be sure to check back as we iron out the coverage and expected totals.
