MIDWEEK CHILL
Cold weather will continue today and tomorrow. With linger gusts 25-35 mph, Wednesday will feel much cooler, even with mostly sunny skies overhead. Highs both days will reach the lower 30s.
Clouds will increase during the day Thursday. Evening flurries are expected with a warm front crossing the area. At most, a patchy coating will develop and make for some slippery travel at night. Milder air will drive the forecast Friday and this weekend.
WEEKEND SHOWERS
The next storm will bring rain showers to the region Saturday afternoon and evening. Most of southern New England will see highs in the low to mid 40s. We’ll need to keep an eye on some local higher elevations Saturday night where a brief wintry mix is possible. The mountains in northern New England will be cooler, and snow is likely.
Daylight hours on Sunday will be dry and mostly cloudy. Another coastal storm will pass offshore Sunday night with a glancing blow. Snow is becoming more likely as a result. The storm won’t last long, or be a direct hit. Currently snow showers look to taper off Monday morning as cold air returns.
ARCTIC AIR NEXT WEEK
Cold, arctic air will rule our forecast next week. In fact, temperatures will remain below freezing all week from Boston to Worcester. That cold is expected to peak Tuesday to Wednesday with sunrise singles and subzero readings and afternoon highs in the teens.
