CLINTON, Mass. — Furious winds blasted Clinton as a fast-moving storm blew through town on Thursday afternoon.
“It sounded like a freight train coming over the house, all the houses were shaking and quaking,” said Tim Carman.
Another resident, Andre Rudenko, said the wind felt like an earthquake.
“Well, the gust of wind lasted about 15, maybe 20 seconds. I felt the house shake for about five seconds. And then I looked out the window and the tree was on the roof.”
Not far away, Walter Kulis’ yard looks like a war zone. Tree limbs litter the yard and broken tree branches fill his pool.

“I came down here and I saw this, and I just couldn’t believe it. I never saw anything like this before. It’s just amazing, the damage that happened in just a short period of time,” Kulis said.
And it happened quickly according to neighbors. One told Boston 25 News that it began to sprinkle, then pour. That’s when Pete Taylor ran inside for cover.
“Yeah, it just started to pour, and I went into my apartment, and I looked out and the wind and rain was horizontal, coming right down Birch Street here,” Pete Taylor said.
Those winds uprooted a pine tree over 50 feet tall, tossing it on its side. From above, Sky 25 showed trees twisted apart, some sheared in half, the bark was stripped right off of others and fences were also knocked down. All of it, according to neighbors, happened in about a minute and was confined to a small part of town.
While there is some property damage, there are no reports of injuries. That’s good news to neighbors who witnessed some wild weather.
“I’m glad no one got hurt and I’m cleaning up the aftermath now,” Carman said.
