Red Sox recall IF Deven Marrero from Pawtucket

Boston — The Boston Red Sox recalled infielder Deven Marrero from Pawtucket prior to the teams game against the Minnesota Twins.

Marrero is making his second major league stint of the season. He came up to the show from April 6-11 without appearing in any major league games. He has played 19 games with the PawSox this season sporting a .169 batting average with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. He made his big league debut for Boston in 2015 and is sporting a .200 batting average with eight runs scored and one home run in 38 major league games. He has appeared defensively at third base, shortstop, and second base.

To make room on the Major League roster the Red Sox optioned right-handed pitcher Brandon Workman to Pawtucket.
