March baseball will actually mean something next season.
The Red Sox announced their 2018 schedule on Tuesday. The Sox will open on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday, March 29. The club will face the Rays again for their home opener at Fenway Park on Thursday, April 5.
The Red Sox have opened the season on the road six of the last seven years, with the 2017 season being the rare regular season opener at Fenway Park.
Their interleague schedule will be against the NL East, with the Braves, Marlins, Phillies and Mets all making trips to Fenway Park.
Other highlights on the 2018 schedule, which was released in Tuesday, include six games against the Yankees in the final 13 days of the season. The rivals will close the season with three games at Fenway Park, starting September 28. The teams finished playing this season on September 3.
The Patriots Day opponent on April 16 will be Baltimore. The Sox will play 15 of their final 21 games of the season at home.
