BOSTON — Police are investigating after a young boy at the South Boston Boys & Girls Club was assaulted.
According to the organization, a young by from a partner organization assaulted another young boy Saturday afternoon.
The alleged attacker was arrested by police, but limited details are being released because of the ages of the children involved.
“Child safety and protection is our number one priority, and we apply intense due diligence to all aspects of policy and operations to reduce risk and provide a safe, secure environment,” a statement from the Boys & Girls Club said.
Parents who rely on the club for child care said they are stunned by the arrest and alleged sexual assault.
“I was really surprised that something happened but I know these kids are in good hands there," one parent said.
Many parents, however, said they're happy with the way they staff responded by immediately contacting police and generally feel good about have their children at the club.
“I think it’s real safe and I'll keep on bringing my child here," one parent said.
