BILLERICA, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The body of a Billerica woman was recovered in Nutting Lake Thursday morning.
Firefighters were searching the water in Nutting Lake at around 10:40 a.m. Thursday after police received a report of an abandoned canoe on the lake earlier in the morning, at around 6:30 a.m.
Then, at around 9:50 a.m., police received a call for a missing person, a 60-year-old Billerica woman named Lorna Rutkauskas. Rutkauskas owned the canoe recovered in the late.
Shortly after firefighters began searching, they recovered a body in the water, later positively identified as Rutkauskas.
Rutkauskas was a real estate agent with Woods Real Estate, and lived in a house on the lake, said Carol Woods, her coworker and friend.
Lorna "Loved the views and wildlife from her deck and yard, Woods said. "She loved walking around the lake."
Massachusetts State Police and Billerica Police are investigating the circumstances around the incident.
