Widow of man killed while trying to break up fight in Quincy seeks answers

A woman is remembering her husband after he was killed while trying to break up a fight outside an American Legion Post in Quincy in January.

The search continues for answers as to who killed Christopher McCallum, and, for the first time, McCallum's wife Kathy sat down for a one-on-one interview at her Bridgewater home.

"It's a hole that's unimaginable," Kathy McCallum said. "Best friend, love of my life."

On January 26, McCallum and his twin brother went out to catch one of their favorite bands at the American Legion on Moon Island Road.

"The individual was causing trouble in the parking lot, Chris tried to break it up," Kathy McCallum said. "He got sucker-punched, and fell back and hit his head."

The Quincy Police Department said they can't comment on the investigation, and said it's been turned over to the District Attorney's Office because of a potential conflict of interest.

The Norfolk District Attorney's Office said they are still working on leads.

"All we want is the justice," Kathy McCallum said. "We need this arrest. It was such a senseless act, and it was violent."

McCallum's wife has to stay strong for their 13-year-old twin boys, Chris and Michael, along with their oldest son, 17-year-old Ryan.

"I'm second to them, they need to be first," Kathy McCallum said. First and foremost is Christ himself, is keeping me strong."

The family just celebrated what would've been McCallum's 45th birthday on Saturday. Now, they're going on five weeks without closure, and are begging anyone to share any information they might have.

"Clear your conscious," Kathy McCallum said. "You know, come forward."

A GoFundMe has been set up for the McCallum family.
