WASHINGTON, D.C. — The White House lit up in rainbow colors Friday night to celebrate a Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage throughout the nation.

The White House also changed its profile photo to a rainbow theme on Twitter  and Facebook.

President Obama said Friday morning that justice had arrived “like a thunderbolt” with the ruling for same-sex couples.

President Obama also tweeted the hashtag #LoveWins after the ruling.

"Today is a big step in our march toward equality. Gay and lesbian couples now have the right to marry, just like anyone else. #LoveWins."
