WESTPORT, Mass. — A Westport man is accused of possessing thousands of images and videos of child pornography.
An investigation began in January of this year when the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crime Unit learned about abut a blogging website where someone had uploaded images showing nude, prepubescent boys posed in a "lascivious manner."
A trooper was able to identify that uploader as 50-year-old Raymond Gagne of Westport, said police.
Gagne worked as a substitute bus driver for the Swansea Public Schools. The superintendent of schools tells Boston 25 News he is no longer employed by the school district as of Tuesday.
After receiving a search warrant for his home, police arrested Gagne Monday on charges of child pornography. Police said they found thousands of images and videos believed to be child pornographic in nature.
"What happened, they say, it's a sickness. Even people who did this stuff, I say you have to forgive this person, it's a sickness with them," said Joan Gagne, Raymond's mother.
The Westport man is facing four counts of possession of child pornography. Gagne was released on personal recognizance following the payment of a $40 clerk’s fee.
