HOUSTON — A Texas mother was shocked to find security camera footage of her daughters' bedroom streaming online, according to ABC News.
She called it her "worst nightmare" when a friend sent her a screenshot of her 8-year-old daughters' bedroom, which was discovered in a Facebook group for mothers. Someone had posted it there in an effort to track down the parents of the girl.
"We have security cameras to protect them," the mother, who didn't want to be identified, told ABC News. "I feel like I've failed ... people are watching my kids in their home, dressing, sleeping, playing."
Shelby Ivie, a mother in Oregon, found the streaming video of the room and posted it to the Facebook group hoping to find the and alert the parents. She said she was looking at satellite images of Earth with her son when she came across the app Live Camera Viewer, which turned up the stream of the little girl's room.
"It may have been running since July 27, maybe even longer," the Texas mother said.
Security experts reportedly told the Texas mother that hackers may have found the family's IP address through her daughter's iPad, which would have led them into the home's DVR system.
"They had [571] likes," she told ABC News. "So, I know for a fact, 571 people have been staring at my kids, probably more."
