Watch: Dashcam video captures head-on crash in Pelham, NH

A dashcam video captured the moment two cars collided in a head-on crash in Pelham, New Hampshire, seriously injuring one person Tuesday afternoon.

The driver of a Kia Sorento crossed the center line as they were traveling along 155 Sherburne Rd., slamming into a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was heading in the opposite direction, according to Pelham police.

Peterson Campbell, the driver of the pickup had his dashcam on and captured footage of the entire incident.

"It was a split-second decision there wasn't enough time to even react," he said.

The video, posted in a tweet from Pelham police, shows the Kia crossing the yellow line as it drives on the westbound side of Sherburne Road around 4:35 p.m., and drives head-on into the front of the pickup that was traveling on the eastbound side.

"I couldn’t swerve to the right. I was going to try to go in the grass, but there was a young man in a gray shirt there, I couldn’t. if I would have swerved over I probably would have killed him," said Campbell. "It's one of those things you just got to bite the bullet, try to hit the brakes hopefully pray for the best."

Campbell suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

The driver of the Kia, Carl Webster, 53, of Hudson, was seriously injured, and his passenger, a 58-year-old Hudson woman, had "superficial injuries," according to a news release.

All three people were transported to local hospitals.

Officials say the dashcam video is a key piece of evidence. They don't know yet why Webster crossed the yellow line, but there's no mistaking he did.

"The camera puts it all together. Paints a picture with the damage of the vehicle, it tells the truth, not altering that. It's just clear as day what took place," said Pelham Police Lt. Anne Perriello.

Webster was cited for crossing the double-yellow line, police said. His current condition is unknown.

Police say a criminal investigation is underway.
