Police: Teenage twin brothers hit by SUV in Falmouth, 1 flown to Boston

FALMOUTH, Mass. — Two 15-year-old twin brothers riding bicycles were hit by an SUV in Falmouth, police said.

One teenager was flown to a Boston hospital. The second teenager was taken by ambulance to Falmouth Hospital.

Their conditions were not immediately known.

A friend of the victims, Adaesia Ogarro, said the brothers were on their way home after visiting with friends when they were hit.

"He was here meeting with my family members, and on his way home with his brother on Baptist Lane, the car came and smashed into both of them," Ogarro said.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Barrows Road and Baptiste Lane around 4:23 p.m. Tuesday.

Sky25 spotted two mangled bicycles and a vehicle with a smashed windshield.

Police said the driver of the car, a 62-year-old Sandwich woman, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

"I think she was in shock. I would be too," Ogarro said.

Police haven't said if the driver was speeding.

Neighbors say despite signs in the area, drivers still speed.

"Cars fly all the time back and forth," said Kellie Mendoza. "They need to be more cautious and be careful of kids."

Friends told Boston 25 News that the brothers are sophomores at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Bourne.

"They are really sweet. I used to help one of them with homework," Ogarro said.

Two other bicyclists were not involved in the collision and were not hurt, police said.
