Two men arrested for allegedly shooting out window at Prudential Center

Two men were arrested after shots were fired at the Prudential Center, Boston Police say.

Police responded around 2 a.m. Sunday morning and arrested Jamaica Plain native Carlos Perez Megia and Roxbury native Mario Escobar for allegedly shooting out one of the windows of the popular Boylston Street building.

"It's pretty concerning just thinking about all of the things that have happened with the Boston Marathon," Boston native Lola Akintobi said. "This will definitely put people on edge, but also thinking about the foot traffic that comes through here, it’s definitely dangerous."

Boston 25 News photographers were on scene as cleanup crews worked to replace the window of the skyscraper Sunday morning.

"This is the first time I've heard of anybody shooting out a window, but it doesn’t surprise me," Jim, a nearby resident, said. "You know what's going on in the world, people have guns and people do stupid things with them."

Many passerbys were concerned about the possibility of broken glass falling from the window, and were left shocked after the incident.

"The glass coming down could have killed somebody, you know, just that alone, so it’s kinda scary," Boston native Kevin Gallagher said. "I’ve never heard of such a thing happen before. Obviously in the city there’s violence that happens, but to shoot out a window, that’s pretty high up there."

People nearby the scene said they're just glad no one was hurt in a situation that could've been much worse.

"Live every day to the fullest, because you never know when a window's gonna fall on you," Jim said.

Both suspects face multiple charges for the damage, including firing a gun near a building and unlawfully having a loaded gun on a public way.
