‘West Wing’ stars reunite for election-year stage adaptation

Martin Sheen’s President Bartlet will once again take his place in the “West Wing.”

HBO Max has released the first trailer for the “West Wing” reunion stage adaptation of season three’s episode “Hartsfield’s Landing,” CNN reported.

The “West Wing” special brings the original cast members back for the first time in 17 years, CNN reported. The trailer shows Sheen, Rob Lowe, Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff and Bradley Whitford, Variety reported.

One person will be missing. John Spencer, who played Leo McGarry, died in 2005. The role will be played this time by Sterling K. Brown.

The show was recorded this month at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles, Variety reported.

During breaks in the production, former first lady Michelle Obama, former President Bill Clinton and Lin-Manuel Miranda will speak out about the importance of voting. The show is a benefit for the movement When We All Vote.

The “West Wing” reunion will start streaming on HBO Max on Oct. 15, and TNT will be showing marathons of the original show on Fridays leading up to Election Day.
