Police search for alligator on the loose in Connecticut

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. — Wildlife officials are searching for an alligator on the loose that was sighted Friday in a ravine near Eastern Connecticut State University.

The state’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection confirmed they are looking for the reptile, WTIC reported.

Alligators are typically found in southern states like Florida and Louisiana, and as far north as North Carolina. However, they have been sighted over the years in Connecticut, usually a result of pet owners illegally disposing of them into the wild, Patch reported.
