TORONTO — The most noteworthy moment at Tuesday’s Yankees-Blue Jays game might not have been on the field.
Video from the game shows Yankees’ Aaron Judge hit a home-run to left field. A Blue Jays fan caught the ball, but rather than toss it back or keep it for himself, the man handed it to a nearby child who was wearing an Aaron Judge t-shirt and Yankees hat. The child was so happy he immediately hugged the Blue Jays fan and burst into tears.
The Yankees’ Twitter account shared the moment on Twitter, saying “What it’s all about.”

Aaron Judge, who hadn’t known about the heartfelt moment until after the game, told MLB.com, “That’s what’s special about this game. It doesn’t matter what jersey you wear. Everybody’s a fan; everybody appreciates this game. That’s pretty cool. I’ve got to check out that video; that’s special.”
The 9-year-old who got the ball, identified as Derek Rodriguez, told The Athletic, “I’m really excited. My dream is to meet Aaron Judge, and well, I’m really happy that I got the ball from his home run,” CBC reported.
