‘The Batman’ star Robert Pattinson tests positive for COVID-19, reports say

Actor Robert Pattinson has tested positive for COVID-19, prompting production to pause on the upcoming film “The Batman,” according to Vanity Fair and The Hollywood Reporter.

In a statement obtained by Vanity Fair, a representative for Warner Bros. confirmed that a person on the set of the superhero drama, which is filming outside of London, had tested positive for the coronavirus. Officials declined to identify the person, though the magazine reported several sources said it was Pattinson.

“A member of ‘The Batman’ production has tested positive for Covid-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols,” the statement said. “Filming is temporarily paused.”

Pattinson, 34, holds the starring role in “The Batman,” which resumed filming just days ago after concerns over the coronavirus pandemic forced production to shutter for nearly six months, according to The Associated Press. The film also stars Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Gotham police Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as mob boss Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham City District Attorney Gil Colson and Jayme Lawson as mayoral candidate Bella Real, according to Warner Bros.

“The Batman” was originally set to release in June 2021, though the AP reported that the premier has since been pushed back to October 2021.
