BOSTON — A state proposal to increase taxes on people who earn more than $1 million annually was approved by legislators Wednesday.
The proposal would add a 4 percent surtax for people earning seven figures in addition to the 5.1 percent income tax already paid by all Massachusetts residents.
To go along with the vote, the Revenue Committee released data on all of the people who reached the income threshold in 2013.
Using that data, FOX25 put together an interactive map showing the Massachusetts towns with the highest population of millionaires.
