(MyFoxBoston.com) – There are many lists of the best places in the Bay State, but this one focuses on the most boring cities and towns around.
The city that tops the list is Leominster, according to research done by the Movoto Real Estate Blog. Attleboro and Brockton follow closely behind.
According to the blog, they created the list by looking at the most populous places in the Commonwealth on the 2010 US Census and then used the Census and business listings to find information about each location. They looked at how many bars or clubs a city had, the population density, percentage of restaurants that were not fast food, and more. They then ranked each place and compiled the following list:
- Leominster
- Attleboro
- Brockton
- Braintree
- Franklin
- Methuen
- Chicopee
- Agawam
- Taunton
- Lawrence
The blog says that Leominster is the most boring city because it has the fewest theaters and galleries; doesnât have a lot of places to exercise; and is very spread out making it difficult to walk anywhere. Attleboro is dull because there are two restaurants in the city, it has a spread out population and itâs lacking in active life options.
Both the art scene and active life options are hard to come by in Brockton. The city also has tons of fast food joints, but not many other options for eateries. Braintree makes the list because it has very few young people and plenty of fast food places to choose from. Franklin has been labeled boring because the townâs website describes it as a "suburban industrial town," the post says. There are few young people, nightlife options and restaurants.
Methuen is low on non-fast food restaurants and people between the ages of 18 and 34. Although Chicopee has some nightlife options, there arenât many places to go if you want to do something active. Six Flags New England amusement park makes Agawam exciting, but once you leave the park your options are limited if you want to eat out or go to a museum of any kind.
Taunton may be exciting during the holidays when Taunton Green hosts one a large light display, but the rest of the year, not so much. If you are looking for walk-ability or a lot of food and nightlife options, Taunton is not the place to start. Lawrence finishes off the list, and is boring because of the cityâs lack of places to be active, artsy, or hungry.
