• Three arrested on drug charges after fentanyl, cocaine bust in Haverhill

    HAVERHILL, Mass. - Haverhill Police arrested three New England residents on multiple drug charges on Wednesday, according to a post from the department’s official Facebook page. 

    Ruben Lara-Ramirez, 36, of Lawrence was charged with Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws, Fentanyl Trafficking and Cocaine Trafficking after local police observed an alleged drug transaction in the city. The incident occurred in the area of Haverhill’s Westgate Shopping Plaza, just off I-495, according to police.

    The ensuing investigation resulted in a large drug seizure by law enforcement. Police recovered 178 grams of fentanyl and 168 grams of cocaine, each worth $7,120 and $6,750, respectively. Law enforcement also confiscated $2,658 in cash. 

    Two other females – both of Manchester, N.H. – were arrested in the investigation; both will be charged with Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws.   

    Lara-Ramirez is being held without bail and is set to be arraigned on Thursday in Haverhill District Court. Police say the suspect was operating a Dodge Caravan with Massachusetts Livery plates at the time of the arrest.
