BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — A Bridgewater mother was bummed her husband couldn’t attend their son’s eighth birthday dinner, but missing important family events is a sacrifice many police officers make when they take the job.
Megan, who asked we don’t share her last name, said she was bummed her husband couldn’t join her and their two children at Barrett’s Alehouse in Bridgewater Monday night.
The family thought the best part was going to be when the waitstaff delivered deserts to the table singing happy birthday.
But when Megan asked for the bill, the waitress told her the couple next to them had already picked up the tab.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Megan said. “They didn’t know us.”
Megan said she was brought to tears by the random act of kindness.
“Like a blubbering fool, I thanked them and even invaded their space by hugging them,” Megan joked.
Megan said the couple told her she was a good mom.
“That right there was the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me,” Megan said.
Megan is now vowing to pay the couple’s good deed forward.
“Random acts of kindness go a long way,” Megan told Boston 25 News ”In a society where we tend to be so caught up in our own lives, something like this can really bring us down a notch.”
For the couple who paid the bill, Megan wants them to know: “Thank you for your kindness from the bottom of my heart. You have restored my faith in humanity.”
