Stinky? Your smartphone could soon detect your body odor

Think you might smell a little funky? Well, there's an app for that.

According to the Huffington Post, Nivea Men, which makes deodorant and other personal care products, is developing a smartphone cover and app called NOSE that can let you know when you stink.

Here's how it works: When you hold the smartphone near your armpit, an "electronic nose" analyzes the chemicals in the air using a special algorithm based on the odors of 4,000 men.

The technology is undergoing beta testing, the project's chief creative officer, Geoffrey Hantson, told the Huffington Post

“We’re introducing the app next month, but it won’t work until the phone cover is available,” Hantson said. “It’s up to Nivea on whether they want to sell those covers separately or as part of a package of body care products.”
