Significant development expected in deadly shooting of Woburn police officer

Officer John Maguire

WOBURN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A significant development is expected in the deadly shooting of a Woburn police officer.

John Maguire was gunned down during robbery at a Kohl's store on December 26, 2010.

On Wednesday, one of the men involved in the heist is heading to court.

Scott Hanright, 19 at the time, is being held without bail for allegedly serving as the lookout while Dominic Cinelli allegedly robbed the jewelry department of Kohls.

Cinelli allegedly killed Maguire as he responded.

Hanright was charged with first degree murder and 21 other offenses.

At one point, a judge dismissed five of those charges. In 2013, the Supreme Judicial Court ruled there was enough evidence to try Hanright on all 22 charges and to prosecute him for first degree murder. The court also said a jury should determine Hanright's guilt and his fate.

In addition to Hanright and Cinelli, there were also two other men allegedly involved in this plot. One was Cinelli's brother and the other was the alleged wheel man. It is unclear if either of them will be involved in Wednesday's proceedings.

Maguire was the first Woburn officer to be killed in the line of duty.
