Robbery suspect arrested after returning to scene for lost cell phone

BOSTON — A 37-year-old Boston woman has been arrested after police say she returned to the scene of a robbery to locate her missing cell phone.

On Sunday night, police were called to CVS at 400 Tremont Street for a reported armed robbery.

An elderly woman told police she was shopping when a woman came behind her, pushed her to the ground and stole her purse. The woman fled the store.

Someone found the stolen purse a short distance away on the Arlington Street overpass bridge. Police also recovered a brown-handled knife which was left outside of the store.

While police were at the scene investigating, they say the suspect, 37-year-old Mary Gallas, came back to look for her lost cell phone. Police did find the cell phone, and arrested Gallas, charging her with armed robbery on a victim over 65 and assault and battery on a victim over 65.
