RI woman faces 2nd OUI charge after weekend bus crash

TAUNTON, Mass. — A woman is facing her second charge of operating under the influence after crashing into a bus over the weekend, according a report filed by a Massachusetts State Trooper.

Christy Gilpatrick, 27, has been charged with OUI liquor for the crash that caused severe injuries to a number of passengers on a bus carrying a group of people from a Catholic shrine's light display in North Attleboro to Tiverton, Rhode Island.

Gilpatrick was released on $2,500 bail.​​​​​ after a court hearing Monday. ​

The resident of Rhode Island, was given field sobriety tests at the scene of the crash, which Trooper Paul Martin said she failed, according to paperwork.

According to the report, Gilpatrick was unsteady on her feet, had slurred speech and glassy eyes. She allegedly blew a .15 on the breath test when she was arrested.

Trooper Martin wrote in the report she had previously been convicted of OUI liquor in Rhode Island in April of 2017.

Massachusetts State Police are investigating the crash and say Gilpatrick was at fault in the crash.
