BEDFORD, NH (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Bedford, New Hampshire schools shut down on Tuesday when the Blizzard of 2015 dropped nearly two feet of snow on the area. After consulting with police and road crews, the school superintendent made the decision to re-open schools on Wednesday with a two hour delay.
The superintendent tweeted out the news, which set off a thread of comments. "Is this some kind of sick joke?" wrote one students.
"So does that mean I can park my snowmobile in the senior lot tomorrow? That is the safest form of transportation at the moment," another student commented.
The superintendent said some of the comments, which he would not identify, were disruptive to the school, so the students who tweeted them were disciplined. The Union Leader reported that they were told the students were suspended, but the superintendent would not say how the students were disciplined. He only said it was done in a way to make sure the students know there are consequences for disrupting school.
There were also comments supporting the superintendent's decision, as some students said they would rather go to school in the snow than in the summer when they would have to make up the days. The superintendent says that's his goal as long as it's safe to do so.
